TV fame for food inspectors

Ever wondered about the work that takes place on the ground to ensure your food is safe? Well now’s your chance to find out. I’m pleased to see that food safety has made it onto prime time TV. BBC1’s new series ‘The Food Inspectors’ begins this evening at 7.30pm, and it follows inspectors from local authorities as they go about their work ensuring food is safe.

The observational documentary style promises to provide an insight into the type of inspections these teams do, and why this is such important work in terms of public protection.

We’ve been working with the producers, providing information on various aspects of food safety, so I’ll be particularly interested to see the way they explore some of the issues that are key to the Agency, including pathogens such as campylobacter and E.coli, food fraud, and the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme.

There will be a pat on the back for the first person to spot an FHRS sticker (sorry no prizes with any monetary value allowed), so make sure you’re sat comfortably on the sofa and ready to watch at 7.30pm.
