Given his youthful looks, I’m sure you’ll be surprised to hear that Terrence Collis is retiring today, and I couldn’t let the moment pass without thanking him for his contribution to the blog.
We shall miss his way with words and a knack of making a story out of some of the more obscure topics – some examples that spring to mind are The Archers, using bananas as a measurement of radiation or Margret Thatcher to personify the Higgs Boson.
But not only has he injected a little joviality into the blog, he has also done a fantastic job of championing better science communications – something I’m also passionate about and will endeavour to continue his good work.
Terrence, I’m hoping this won’t be an end to your blog contributions (you’ll need something to occupy you when The Archers isn’t on!), but I would like to pass on my thanks and wish you all the best for the future.
